Every autumn the bar-tailed godwit undertakes an eight-day journey from Alaska to New Zealand. The bird flies non-stop, without once breaking the journey to rest or eat. Then when spring comes, the bar-tailed godwit makes the 11,000-kilometre journey back to Alaska.
Professor Hedenström emphasises that the bar-tailed godwit is far superior to all aircraft constructed by humans when it comes to the art of flying for a long time without a break. The long-distance flight record for aircraft is held by QiniteQ's Zephyr, an unmanned solar-powered craft. It can remain in the air for 82 hours, around three and a half days, compared with the bar-tailed godwit's eight-day flight.
Students seek freedom to fly, freedom to express, freedom to share, freedom to learn beyond the class. This yearning in learning from my classmates and seniors gave us the impetus to think about a magazine. GODWIT amazed us with its perseverance. It's zeal to travel around the world non-stop motivated us to embark on this journey. It is a magazine which gives an avenue to bring out the best from the students, to give expression to their myriad interests in different aspects of International Trade. Business evolves round the clock, most happenings take place in the mid of the night due to the time difference and it is information explosion when it comes to learning the latest.
The outstanding result of the exercise is many of us became voracious readers, of course we read only about what interests us individually and this lead us to creative viewpoints about Marketing, Logistics, Policy changes, FTAs name it and one of us will have something to add/comment/criticize.
We have seen in last few weeks the dramatic changes in the International Scenario. BRICS bank shows the whole world that initiatives will henceforth gradually shift to the developing Countries. More understanding among the not so rich will help to transform the developing Nations to developed Nations. The Government is already talking about a Comprehensive Treaty with Russia after the successful AIFTA. We need all this and more to get out of the not so positive trade gap in India. Our students have covered all this and more in this issue.
It is our wish to expand into the publishing world by letting all the students of International Business to be able to get "GODWIT" very soon. Our Marketing Team is all spiced up after getting initial feedback on the draft copy.
We welcome articles from all Mibians. Let us to-gether bring out the best in us. Let the world know that MIBIANS are here to stake their rightful claim on the International Business opportunities!
